School Children Receive New Uniforms and Winter Hats

What kind of missionary impact can a 72 year-old grandma from Wisconsin have in a nation like Pakistan?

My mom, Lita Powers (also known as Grandma Lita in Pakistan) works year-round knitting stocking hats for children all over the world.  While in Pakistan last month, I was able to distribute almost 200 of Grandma Lita’s hats to some very poor Christian children.  The kids were ecstatic as I personally “crowned” each one with their new winter hats just in time for winter.  In acts like this is the love of God demonstrated.

Thrilled!  Is the only word that comes to mind to describe how I felt as I distributed new uniforms to our 52 new school children in Pakistan.

As we’ve been reporting over the past few months, Empower International has opened a school for children where there is a serious problem with child-slavery.  It is not uncommon for the owners of the brick factories to force children from the ages of 8-9on up to work in the brick kilns for 12-16 hours a day.

We realize the primary way to break this cycle is with God’s help and by providing these children with an education.
We have 52 students that have now been in school for 5 months!  They were beside themselves with joy as they received their brand new uniforms last month!

This is so precious.  We are so proud of Grandma Lita and all of you.  Thank you for taking the Love of Jesus and our love to those precious little children in Pakistan and other places.
